K. Todd Freeman Joins Netflix's A Series Of Unfortunate Events

K. Todd Freeman has been cast as Mr. Poe in Netflix's upcoming adaptation of author Daniel Handler series of best-selling children's books, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Narrated by Lemony Snicket, the story follows three orphan siblings, Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny Baudelaire who seek to discover the secret behind their parents’ death, all while facing trials and tribulations at the hands of their evil Count Olaf, whose only goal is to acquire their inheritance by any means necessary.

Mr. Poe is a clueless and naïve banker with a good heart. Timothy Spall played the character in the 2004 feature adaptation also starring Jim Carrey, Emily Browning, and Meryl Streep.

Barry Sonnenfeld is attached to direct and executive produce the 13-episode series.

Last we heard Neil Patrick Harris was in negotiations to play the villainous Count Olaf.

Freeman's credits include Eraser, NYPD Blue, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Dark Knight, and Anesthesia. Last year he was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Airline Highway.
