The second season of Marvel's Agent Carter concludes
tonight with the aptly titled episode Hollywood Ending. The season finale
promises to wrap things up all while leaving plenty of loose threads for next
season.
"I can tell you the ending is a very satisfying
round up of events that wrap up quite nicely for the audience, but also leave
us on a bit of a cliffhanger," Atwell told IGN. "We think that
there could be more to come."
We will have to wait and see whether a cliffhanger
finale will be enough for ABC to renew the struggling Marvel series for a new
season, but the second season of Agent Carter didn't spark as much interest as
the first season did, and with ratings half of what they originally were,
chances are the network will take a pass on a third season. Still, Atwell is
positive about the future of the show, and is sure nothing will hamper her
continuing to play the character, not even a new show.
"I am hearing at this point that we don’t know
anything and we won’t know until the Upfronts in May," Atwell says. "As
is common knowledge, I am going to film another ABC pilot called Conviction. ABC has
assured me that it would be actually possible, if both shows get picked up, for
me to do both. So by saying yes to the pilot of Conviction does not automatically say that that’s
it for Peggy and Jarvis at all. It just means that they had a show that they
liked me to do and there is a possibility to do both at some point."
