Award winning
actor Ben Vereen has joined the upcoming TV remake of The Rocky Horror Picture
Show. Vereen will play Dr. Everett V. Scott, a smart ex-science teacher now UFO
hunter for the Bureau of Investigation, who ends at Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s (Laverne Cox) castle while looking for
his nephew Eddie (Adam Lambert).
Jonathan Adams (Jesus of Nazareth,
The Invisible Man) played the character in the 1975 film.
Vereen
is a two-time Golden Globe nominee for Funny Lady, and Ellis Island, a
three-time Primetime Emmy nominee for Roots, The Bell Telephone Jubilee, and
Intruders, and a Tony Award winner for Pippin. More recently, his credits
include Top Five, How I Met Your Mother, and Hot In Cleveland.
The special
two-hour TV event follows sweethearts Janet Weiss (Victoria Justice) and Brad Majors
(Ryan McCartan), who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode.
Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous flirtatious alien mad-scientist, is
holding an annual, Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of
“Rocky Horror” – a fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank’s
desires.
The remake also Reeve Carney
as Riff Raff, Annaleigh Ashford as Columbia, Christina Milian as Magenta, and
Tim Curry as the event's Criminologist Narrator. Curry played the
original Dr. Frank-N-Furter in both the stage production and 1975 film.
The Rocky
Horror Picture Show remake will air on Fox in the fall.
