As rumored, Martin Freeman will play a slightly
different version of Everett Ross in directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain
America: Civil War.
Empire has the exclusive, and according to them, Freeman's
character is a member of the Joint Counter Terrorist Center, an organization
that in the absence of S.H.I.E.L.D., will be trying to rein in unsanctioned
superheroes like Captain America (Chris Evans), and Bucky (Sebastian Stan).
At this time, it is
unclear if the Russo brothers have decided to incorporate Ross' comic book
history as the liaison between the United States and Wakanda in Civil War, or
if they think that is something best left to be explored by director Ryan
Coogler (Creed) in the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) standalone movie, where
Freeman is expected to have a much larger role.
Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6.
