Mac
is back, and he is getting updated to a more modern audience. CBS has picked up
the pilot for a MacGyver reboot, which will not be a continuation of the long
running and fan favorite series from the '80s and '90s starring the iconic
Richard Dean Anderson. It will be a new take with a new cast.
In the show, Anderson played Angus MacGyver, a
secret agent who used his wits and knowledge to carry out his missions, and to
overcome every obstacle that came in his way. The character was famous for
creating weapons and doodads out of string and chewing gum (exaggeration).
According
to Variety, the new show follows "a 20-something MacGyver as he gets
recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving
problems in unconventional ways to help disasters from happening."
Original
executive producer Henry Winkler comes back to executive produce the new show
alongside James Wan (Furious 7) who will also direct the pilot.
