Selma filmmaker Ava DuVernay
has just signed with Disney to direct A Wrinkle In Time, the feature film adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's
1962 sci-fi fantasy novel of the same name that has a script by
Academy Award winning director Jennifer Lee (Frozen).
A Wrinkle in Time centers on a girl named Meg who with
her small brother Charles, and friend Calvin, go on a heart-stopping journey
through space in search of her scientist father who went missing while
experimenting with time travel.
But A Wrinkle in Time isn't the only sci-fi project
DuVernay has cooking. The filmmaker is also in negotiation to take on Intelligent
Life, a sci-fi thriller written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly that has Oscar
winning Lupita Nyong'o attached to star.
The movie follows a "U.N worker in a department
designed to represent mankind if there was ever contact with aliens, who falls
for a mysterious woman who turns out to be an alien."
It's unclear what project will move forward first, but
since Disney signed the deal with the filmmaker first I'm guessing that one.
