After some subterfuge regarding the location of the
next installment in the Fast & Furious movie series, franchise star Vin
Diesel has officially announced with a teaser image that Furious 8 will go to
New York City, which finally confirms something the actor said late last year
when he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
"Something that
people don’t know is the first movie came from a Vibe article that was about
street races in New York, and the director and producer at the time reset the
whole movie in LA," Diesel explained during his late night appearance. "But
the Vibe article that the whole franchise was started from actually originated
in New York. So, we’re finally bringing it back home, baby!"
Directed by Straight
Outta Compton's F. Gary Gray, Furious 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on April
14, 2017.
