Supreme Leader Snoke has been the subject of much
speculation ever since we first found out about him. Is he Darth Vader? Is he Darth
Vader's Force Ghost? But one that has endured is whether he is Darth Sidious' (Palpatine)
former master, Darth Plagueis.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in
an interview back in November, Andy Serkis, who played the character with performance
capture technology, revealed to the news outlet that there is no connection
between the two, and that while Snoke was aware of the events from the previous
films, he was a new addition to the franchise.
He could be misleading us of course,
but since Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, and Lucasfilm have purposely stayed away
from tapping into the prequels mythology thus far, I don't see a reason to drag
back in something from a series of movies that aren't as well regarded by fans
and moviegoers in general.
