Prison Break alum Robert
Knepper has joined Ed Zwick's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back for Paramount
Pictures.
Starring once again Tom Cruise
in the titular role, in the sequel Reacher sees himself getting involved in a conspiracy the moment he returns
to the headquarters of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps.
Knepper will play General Harkness,
a retired General turned CEO of a private military contractor company, who is
described as an authoritarian, experienced, and powerful man who thinks he's
the hero and is not afraid to do whatever it takes.
Titled after Lee Child's 18th
novel of the same name in the Jack Reacher series, Never Go Back also
stars Cobie Smulders (The Avengers), Danika
Yarosh (Heroes Reborn), Austin Hebert (Bonnie and Clyde), Patrick
Heusinger (Girlfriend’s Guide
to Divorce), Aldis Hodge (Straight Outta Compton), Holt McCallany (Gangster Squad), and Robert
Catrini (General Hospital).
Former military cop Jack
Reacher makes it all the way from snowbound South Dakota to his destination in
northeastern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.: the headquarters of his old unit,
the 110th MP. The old stone building is the closest thing to a home he ever
had. Reacher is there to meet — in person — the new commanding officer, Major
Susan Turner, so far just a warm, intriguing voice on the phone. But it isn’t
Turner behind the CO’s desk. And Reacher is hit with two pieces of shocking
news, one with serious criminal consequences, and one too personal even to
think about.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
hits theaters on October 16.
