Fargo breakout star Rachel Keller has landed the
female lead role in Legion, the upcoming X-Men spinoff TV series from Fargo
creator Noah Hawley, Bryan Singer, Marvel TV, and FX Productions.
The 23-year-old actress played Simone Gerhardt, the
femme fatale in the second season of Fargo, and apparently both Hawley and FX
were so impressed with the newcomer's performance that they decided to cast her
in her first leading role.
Keller has also appeared in the indie comedy Hollidaysburg,
The Mentalist, and Supernatural.
Legion introduces the story of Professor X's son, David
Haller who has struggled with mental illness since he was a teenager. Diagnosed
as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years.
But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the
possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Legion is one of two X-Men spinoff series currently
being developed, with the other being Hellfire.
