20th Century Fox has
entered negotiations to pick up a very interesting package from Animal Logic
Entertainment (The Lego Movie). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is currently
in talks with the production company to develop Neil Gaiman children's book, Fortunately,
The Milk.
Bret McKenzie (Flight
of the Conchords) has been put in charge of adapting the book for Edgar Wright
(Shawn of the Dead) to direct, and Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) to
star in. Depp will also produce the adaptation.
Intended to be a blend of live-action and animation, Fortunately,
The Milk is described as a "story of
time travel and breakfast cereal",
which begins with a father who goes to a store
to buy some milk and returns with fantastic tales of aliens, space-time travel,
pirates, dinosaurs and much more.
