As if losing several lead actors and directors, and
having the studio producing the project declare bankruptcy wasn't enough for the
would-be reboot of The Crow, news now comes that the most recent director tapped
to helm the project may also be on his way out.
According to The Wrap, Edward R.
Pressman, the holder of the rights and producer, filed an objection for The Crow
license to be included in Relativity Media's bankruptcy auction. Pressman stated that
he doesn't know if whoever ends up with the project has the monetary capability
to fully finance the film and release it in no less than 1,000 screens in North
America alone.
Furthermore, Pressman revealed that Corin
Hardy is preparing to leave the project, saying that they are "in danger of losing the services of the director of
the picture … who is widely regarded as a key creative element. Thus, the
production of the picture is imploding even as the time to make the picture is
running out under the Crow contract."
The deal struck between Pressman and Relativity stipulated
that the rights would revert to Pressman if the studio failed to produce a film
within three years of signing the deal, and that was 18 months ago.
Apparently, several studios and
capable producers have expressed interest in the property, but Relativity is
playing hard game and no deals have yet been made.
