The Keanu Reeves and
dog centered revenge-action flick John Wick was one of 2014 biggest surprises,
both critically and financially to an extent. The $20 million movie went on to
earn more than $78 million at the worldwide box-office, and it became a hit in
the home video market.
Earlier this year John
Wick 2 was announced and it will feature the return of Reeves in the titular
role along with directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, as well as screenwriter
Derek Kolstad.
"With such
tremendous fan and critical support for ‘John Wick,’ we knew that there was
still so much more of this story to tell," Lionsgate’s President of
Acquisitions and Co-Productions said earlier this year. "We are
thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring
audiences even more excitement the second time around."
Today as part of a press
release for the upcoming adaptation of Outlaws Inc., Thunder Road Pictures revealed
that principal photography on the sequel will commence this coming Fall.
"Thunder Road’s upcoming releases include Sicario directed
by Denis Villeneuve starring Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, and Josh Brolin,
and the tent pole film Gods of Egypt for
Summit/Lionsgate directed by Alex Proyas. Also upcoming is a sequel to the hit
actioner John Wick starring
Keanu Reeves which begins shooting this Fall," reads the press release.
Jason Constantine and Eda Kowan will oversee the
adrenaline-fueled sequel for Lionsgate.
