True Blood showrunner
Mark Hudis, and Barry Sonnenfeld (Adams Family, and Men In Black franchises, as
well as Get Shorty) have joined Netflix's adaptation of Daniel Handler's (as Lemony Snicket) popular
children's novels, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Hudis will act as the
series showrunner and executive producer alongside Sonnenfeld, who will also
direct.
The story follows the lives of three orphan siblings,
Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire, whom are put in the custody of their evil
uncle Count Olaf, whose only goal is to acquire the children's inheritance by
any means necessary.
Are you made fainthearted by death? Does fire unnerve
you? Is a villain something that might crop up in future nightmares of yours?
Are you thrilled by nefarious plots? Is cold porridge upsetting to you? Vicious
threats? Hooks? Uncomfortable clothing?
It is likely that your answers will reveal A Series of
Unfortunate Events to be ill-suited for your personal use. A librarian,
bookseller, or acquaintance should be able to suggest books more appropriate
for your fragile temperament. But to the rarest of readers we say, “Proceed,
but cautiously.”
