It looks like 20th
Century Fox has found their Bella Donna Boudreaux in Blue is the Warmest Color,
and upcoming Spectre star, Léa Seydoux. The French actress was one of three
being considered for the role. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation standout
Rebecca Ferguson, and Mad Max: Fury Road's Abbey Lee were also in the shortlist
to star alongside Channing Tatum in the upcoming X-Men spinoff, Gambit. Ferguson
ultimately decided to go in a different direction and opted to join the drama
The Girl on the Train opposite Emily Blunt. As for Lee it's unclear whether she
wasn't available, didn't want to do it, or was passed over in favor of Seydoux.
According to Deadline,
Fox offered the role to Seydoux, who has yet to say yes, but I wouldn't be too surprised
if she agreed to play the role since she actually tested with Tatum just after
Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) came onboard to direct.
In the comics, Bella
Donna Boudreaux is Gambit's love interest and a member of the Assassins' Guild,
an organization that is always clashing with the Thieves Guild, of which Remy
LeBeau, aka Gambit (Tatum) is part.
Gambit opens on
October 7, 2016.
