Lionsgate and Hugh Jackman have entered in negotiation for the star to lead
Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) adaptation of Homer's epic poem, The
Odyssey.
According to The Wrap, Jackman is in talks to play Odysseus, the Greek hero
(also known as Ulysses in the Roman myths), who after the fall of Troy sets out
with his men on a 10-year journey back home to Ithaca. Along the way, they have
many adventures involving Gods, demigods, and a variety of creatures, all while
back at home Odysseus wife Penelope is trying to keep at bay 100 suitors.
The Odyssey has franchise written all over. It even comes with a built-in
prequel, the Iliad, which focuses on the Trojan War and the siege of Troy. Let
us just hope it is more like Gladiator meets fantasy and not like Clash of the
Titans.
