The upcoming Harry
Potter prequel spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has added
another heavy-hitter to its growing list of talent. According to the Hollywood
Reporter, Colin Farrell has signed on to star alongside Eddie Redmayne,
Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Dan Fogler in David Yates'
return to the wizarding world of Harry Potter after directing the final four
entries in the popular franchise.
Fantastic Beasts and
Where to Find Them marks J.K. Rowling's debut into the world of scriptwriting,
and in it Farrell will play a magician named Graves, who will meet up with the
film's protagonist Newt
Scamander in New York City. Set seventy years prior to events of Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer's Stone, Fantastic Beasts will see Eddie Redmayne play Scamander,
a magizoologist and the writer of one of Hogwarts schoolbooks, who is out on an
adventure to find and document magical creatures.
Fantastic Beasts and
Where to Find Them opens on November 18, 2016.
