San Diego Comic-Con's
Hall H panel for Warner Bros. TV held many surprises, but for The Flash portion
of the event the reveal of additional casting, and new main villain seemed to be
the biggest crowd pleasers.
Speaking at the event
was the series co-creator Andrew Kreisberg, who revealed that Zoom will be running
around Central City and causing problems for The Flash. Kreisberg was quick to
point out that this new yellow-speedster isn't The Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne,
but a new character, possibly Hunter Zolomon, the second man to wear the yellow
suit.
"He's faster
than the Reverse-Flash, faster than Flash and will be very hard to catch,"
Kreisberg revealed. "He's going to be terrifying and scary and fast, and
it's going to be all kinds of cool."
We recently revealed
that as teased, Jay Garrick will be introduced in the upcoming second season of
the show, however, while at the panel Kreisberg revealed that Teddy Sears (A
Single Man, American Horror Story, Masters of Sex) will be the one wearing the
winged helmet.
"Having Jay
Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas. It is so exciting, as
we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to
life," said Kreisberg. "We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to
play the original Flash than Teddy."
Kreisberg is also
throwing in a new love interest for Barry in the form of Shantel VanSanten (The
Messengers) as Patty Spivot, a police officer and science enthusiast, who is obsessed
with metahumans, and that catches Barry's attention.
"We were huge
fans of The Messengers and are excited to have Shantel join us to help
complicate Barry Allen’s love life in season two."
Finally, Kreisberg
also confirmed that Wally West will officially be joining the series, but
didn't reveal who will play the character that grows up to become the Flash.
