Syfy has purchased the rights
to Wynonna Earp, a 13-episode series based on the IDW's comic of the same name
created by Beau Smith.
Described as "Justified meets Buffy
The Vampire Slayer", this modern supernatural western follows Wyatt Earp's
great granddaughter, who alongside an intriguing group of allies, fights demons
and other supernatural threats.
Melanie Scrofano (Damien,
Gangland Undercover) stars as Wynonna, and is joined by Tim Rozon (Being Human)
as Doc Holliday, and Shamier Anderson (Defiance, Constantine) as the mysterious
Agent Dolls.
Production is set to start
this September in Calgary for an April 2016 premiere.
