After giving a long lost sequel National Lampoon's Vacation,
New Line is gearing up to reboot Shaft with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, and
The Goldberg's executive producer Alex Barnow set to write the script, which
will have a comedic tone to it.
Counting with the iconic and Oscar winning theme by
Isaac Hayes, the original 1970's Blaxploitation movie followed a private
detective named John Shaft (Richard Roundtree), who is hired to find a missing
girl in Harlem.
Back in 2000, John Singleton directed a reboot of
sorts, which followed Shaft's nephew played by Samuel L. Jackson.
