Despite the somewhat
disappointing opening, Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim did managed to perform
well enough to earn a sequel. While attending San Diego Comic-Con, the
filmmaker spoke with Yahoo about the sequel, and revealed that he will start
shooting it in November.
The visionary
director also revealed that they are still designing the robots, and kaijus, as
well as planning the fight scenes, including the one towards the end, which del
Toro says "epic".
So far, only Charlie Day (Dr. Newton Geiszler) and Burn Gorman
(Gottlieb) have been confirmed for the sequel, which will open on August 4,
2017.
