With the lines
between summer and winter seasons quickly fading way, most studios are starting
their tentpole season earlier than usual and Warner Bros. is no different. The
studio in charge of housing DC's cinematic universe will begin their
summer blockbuster season with Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
on March 26, and after a couple of promotional images, and trailer, the studio
has decided to release the official synopsis for the highly anticipated
project.
Fearing the actions
of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful
vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the
world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and
Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind
in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Though a quick
synopsis, with the full one being released closer to the film's release date,
it does offer some structure to endless rumors, and speculation about the
dynamic between the World's Greatest Detective (Ben Affleck) and the Man of
Steel (Henry Cavill). It also hints that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg)
will be acting behind the scenes while the two heroes figure each other out.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also stars,
Gal Gadot, Jeremy Irons, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Holly
Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Ray Fisher, Scoot McNairy, and Jason Momoa.
