Every superhero has
his achilles heel, and for Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man it seems oxygen might be
something he needs to consider every time he shrinks.
According to costume
designers Sammy Sheldon, and Ivo Coveney, the Ant-Man costume in this year's
film of the same name is not without its problems.
"When
you shrink, the molecules in the air are too big for your lungs," Sheldon
explained to Empire. "He has to be fully contained or he'd die."
However,
the same scientific zeal as to why Scott can't just unzip his suit while in ant
size and go for a stroll wasn't applied to the two large "cables"
that go into his helmet. "They're a massive weakness - Yellowjacket could
just rip them off and he's dead. But, in the end, it just looks cooler with
them on."
