Though it recently
lost director Josh Trank at its helm, rumors surrounding the second film in the Star
Wars Anthology series are starting to come.
According to a new report,
the follow-up to Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One will be an origin story
about everyone's favorite bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
The character first
rose to fame after following the Millennium Falcon to Cloud City in Bespin and
collaborating with Darth Vader to capture Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back, and
dying in the Sarlacc pit in Return of Jedi. Before that, the character was
introduced as an unaltered clone of Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, and we
glimpsed some of his younger adventures in the animated tv series, The Clone
Wars.
This isn't the first
time Boba Fett's name came up in connection with the Star Wars spinoff films.
He was first rumored to lead a pack of bounty hunters in the first film, which
we now know will focus on a group of rebels, whose mission is to still the
plans of the first Death Star.
Writer and producer Simon
Kinberg is still attached to the project, though Lucasfilm is now searching for
a director to replace Trank in the 2018 release.
