MTV has
released a new promo for the TV adaptation of Scream, which "kicks off after a cyberbullying incident
results in a brutal murder, with the shocking violence stirring up memories of
a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe
just inspired a new killer. It centers on a group of new teens — with two old
friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — who become lovers, enemies,
suspects, targets and victims of a killer who’s out for blood."
I never liked
the Scream franchise as a whole. The first film had its moments but the sequels
were unimaginative, not at all scary, and filled with the clichés that they
tried so hard make fun off and exploit in the first film, so having it being
reborn as a TV series on MTV of all places isn't particularly alluring to me.
Coming to MTV
on June 30th, Scream stars Bella Thorne, Jason Wiles, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Willa
Fitzgerald, Carlson Young, Amadeus Serafini, John Karna, and Connor Weil.
What
starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers
of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to
the town’s troubled past.
