After a very long time gestating, Martin Scorsese
is finally wrapping up his adaptation of Shûsaku Endô's 1966 novel, Silence,
which follows a pair of Portuguese Jesuit missionaries played by Andrew
Garfield, and Adam Driver, who travel to 17th century Japan to investigate the
rumor that their mentor played by Liam Neeson has abandoned the church, and claims
of religion persecution.
Also at the end-of-production press conference in
Taiwan, Garfield, Martin Scorsese, and producer Emma Koskoff talk a little bit
about the project.
Scheduled to hit theaters in 2016, Silence also
stars Ciarán Hinds, Tadanabu Asano, Rich Graff, Yôsuke Kubozuka, Yoshi Oida, Issei
Ogata, and Shin'ya Tsukamoto, who we can see in the picture above with Garfield.
