After suffering some
setbacks, but with a release date set for December 21, 2016 now in place, the
eternal battle between Assassins and Templars is finally set to start rolling.
Speaking to
ComingSoon, producer and star, Michael Fassbender revealed that the adaptation
of the Assassin's Creed video game will start shooting this September.
Fassbender reteams
with his Macbeth director and co-star, Justin Kurzel, and Marion Cotillard, and
that's about it. At this point not much else is known about the film. The game
franchise has a considerable amount of material, and thought it focuses on a
man called Desmond Milles, who lives in current times, the memory device/time
travel called Animus will have him relive past assassin's memories, spanning from
the Third Crusade up until the French Revolution.
"That’s
always the challenge of something that’s so dense, to really find something and
pare it down and basically, there are so many elements to it, so trying to
translate that to an audience, you have to pick key things," said Fassbender
on the richness of the source material.
