We recently learned that Sony and Marvel had set their eyes on five young
actors to play the new incarnation of Spider-Man on the big screen, and the
first ever on the MCU.
Now, according to The Wrap, actors Nat Wolff (Stuck In Love), Asa Butterfield
(Ender's Game), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar),
and Liam James (The Killing) are all "strong contenders who are definitely
in the mix as of right now," though no offers have been made.
The outlet also reports that Sony and Marvel should come to a decision
within the next two to three weeks, but an official announcement might take
awhile longer due to negotiations.
The first new Spider-Man standalone film hits theaters on July 28, 2017,
after making his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War.
