The mogul of comic book adaptations Mark Millar is at
it again. After Wanted (2008), Kick-Ass (2010), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), and most
recently Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) paved the Hollywood way for the
writer, Millar adds yet another title to the growing list of upcoming
productions, which so far include Chrononauts, MPH, Nemesis, Starlight, Superior,
and now Jupiter's Legacy, which he co-created with artist Frank Quitely.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Millar has teamed
up with Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises) and
together they are looking for writers to bring the five issue comic book series
to the big screen.
"We have the last remains of
these old-school heroes and their mainly vacuous children living in L.A., a
massive disappointment to the first generation of super-people and just lost,
no real direction in their lives beyond advertising gigs and opening night
clubs," is how Millar described Jupiter's Legacy.
"What appealed to me was the emotional weight of
the family dynamic in Shakespearean fashion," di Bonaventura told THR. "It is also unique in a world where there are
many similar super hero movies and IP."
