It seems like Furious
7 director James Wan is in talks to direct the live-action adaptation of the
1980's anime Robotech for Sony, who apparently "are going to try and make
this work", and no wonder since Furious 7 has unexpectedly grown to
unimaginable heights at the box-office where it has so far grossed $1.3 billion.
Wan is also planning
to direct The Conjuring sequel, which comes out in 2016, and there have been
rumors that Warner Bros. is eyeing him to helm Aquaman.
This isn't the first
time studios tried to adapt Robotech, but Sony is planning to make it a
worldwide franchise, meaning it will probably something along the lines of
Transformers 4, with the first half of the film set in the U.S., while the
second half happening someplace else.
Robotech centers on
alien robotic technology found on a crashed starship and that is used to fend
off various alien invasions.
