Paramount Television is
getting ready to develop a TV series based on director Dean Parisot's 1999 Star
Trek spoof film, Galaxy Quest. The film follows an aging group of actors, who
now make a living of the re-runs of the popular sci-fi TV series they were in,
and conventions, which is where they are beamed up by a group of aliens, who
believed the series was real, and asked to help out against the oppressive
regime in their solar system.
According to Deadline the
series is being written by the film screenwriter Robert Gordon, who alongside
Parisot, and the film producer Mark Johnson will be executive producing the
series.
The film starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan
Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl Mitchell, Enrico
Colantoni and Justin Long, but it's unclear if any will reprise their roles.
This isn't Paramount's only film to
Tv adaptations in the works. Minority Report, and Shutter Island are also being
developed.
