Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds) has
joined the cast of Seth Rogen and Evan
Goldberg AMC adaptation of Garth Ennis, and Steve Dillon's cult
1990's comic series, Preacher.
According
to Deadline, Perkins will play Vyla Quinncannon, "a genteel but formidable
businesswoman who owns the local slaughterhouse in Annville. Ambitious,
strong-willed, and terrifying, Vyla shares a past with Jesse’s father which
gives her a singular hold over Jesse."
There
wasn't a Vyla Quinncannon in the original source material but there was a Odin Quinncannon,
who also owned a slaughterhouse. So either Vyla is related to Odin, or there
was a gender swap.
Preacher
star Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a small-town Texas preacher, who after
being given the power to make anyone do what he says, teams up with his
ex-girlfriend Tulip O'Hare (Ruth Negga), and an Irish Vampire called Cassidy
(Joe Gilgun) to find God and force him to explain why he abandoned creation.
Actors Ian Colletti and Lucy Griffiths join the rest of the cast as Arseface,
and Emily, respectively.
