Warner Bros. Buys Rights To Striking Sci-Fi Short Sundays

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to adapt director Mischa Rozema's stunning sci-fi short Sundays to a feature length film. Other studios tried and failed to sweet-talk the director into signing with them, and Warner is now looking for writers to pen what will become Rozema's feature directorial debut.

Sundays is the latest in a growing trend where up-and-coming directors with the help of crowdfunding platforms create their proof-of-concept trailers, shorts, etc, and get recognition, and perhaps something else like a deal with a major studio. In this case, Sundays was a Kickstarter campaign that managed to raise $50,000 to achieve a striking visual display reminiscent of some of Hollywood's biggest productions.
