We had only caught a glimpse of the character in the trailer for the
upcoming Marvel/Netflix 13-episode series, Daredevil. Now however, USA Today
has released what is our first good look at Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk
the future Kingpin.
"I
just brought in this kind of character who in one sentence could easily go from
being a child to a monster, depending on where his emotions take him," said D'Onofrio to the news outlet. "I
wanted him to have an appearance of being super-powerful so that when he throws
a punch, it's a major punch. There's a lot of weight behind it."
Premiering on April 10, Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson,
Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, aka Night Nurse, and Vincent D'Onofrio as
Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.
"Marvel's Daredevil"
follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued
with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer,
and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York
City.
Marvel's first original series
on Netflix is Executive Produced by series Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight
("Spartacus," "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer,"
"Angel") and Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the Woods,"
"Lost," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," in addition to writing
the first two episodes of "Marvel's Daredevil"), along with Marvel
TV's Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,"
"Smallville," "Heroes").
