Marvel and Netflix have released a new motion poster for the upcoming
Daredevil 13-episode series, which sees lawyer Matt Murdock turn into the Man Without
Fear, and back again.
Daredevil's not so red costume has been one of the most talked about
aspects of the series. Former Daredevil artist and Marvel's current CCO, Joe
Quesada had this to say about the series approach to the costume.
We had to come up
with a logic for it. It was a delicate balance, because the stories we're
telling are so real-world. Matt starts out in a homemade outfit that develops
slowly. As he starts getting the crap kicked out of him on the streets, he adds
padding little by little.
While Marvel's Television head Jeph Loeb added:
We couldn't just come
out of the box with a guy running around in a red devil costume. We needed to
be able to make sure that it looked not like a costume, but a uniform.
"Marvel's Daredevil" follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was
blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting
against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil
in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.
Marvel's first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by series
Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight ("Spartacus," "Buffy: The Vampire
Slayer," "Angel") and Drew Goddard ("Cabin in the
Woods," "Lost," "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," in
addition to writing the first two episodes of "Marvel's Daredevil"),
along with Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,"
"Smallville," "Heroes").
"Marvel's Daredevil" is produced by Marvel Television in
association with ABC Studios for Netflix.
