Much like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy,
writer/director Suicide Squad will be a test for Warner Bros. who with the film
will be introducing a group of characters that the majority of movie going audience
has never seen or heard of.
While at the premiere of The Divergent Series:
Insurgent, Variety caught up with Jai Courtney and asked him about his preparation
for the role of Digger Harkness, aka Captain Boomerang.
"I’ve been training for three months in different
martial arts," Courtney said. "As you can imagine for that superhero
world, the athletic expectations are rather high."
We know that the actor will be sharing the screen with
co-stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Cara Delevingne,
and Joel Kinnaman, but we still don't anything about the plot, and the actor
wasn't feeling particularly chatty.
"I can’t reveal anything about the plot," he
said. "I’m working with a great cast. It’s a wonderful group, and I’m
really pumped to be working among them."
Courtney, who won't need to hold back his Australian
accent (maybe the other way around), adds that Suicide Squad "Is going to
be a huge action film, very visual, but grounded in the characters."
Suicide Squad premieres on August 5, 2016.
