Liam Neeson's career
has always been diverse and full of great performances, however in 1999 with
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Neeson showed his first action star moves as Jedi
Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The path to becoming a fully-fledged action star was brief
and in 2008 after roles in Batman Begins, and Seraphim Falls the actor entered
the pantheon of great action stars with Taken.
Now at 62 the actor
seems to be keen in stepping away from what has become a genre in and of itself,
the middle age man with a particular set of skills going against the world.
Speaking to The Guardian, Neeson revealed that "Maybe two more years. If God spares me and I’m
healthy. But after that, I’ll stop [the action] I think."
The actor
also recognized how these action films helped boost his career by adding,
"The success of certainly the Taken films, Hollywood seems
to see me in a different light. I get sent quite a few action-oriented scripts,
which is great. I’m not knocking it. It’s very flattering. But there is a
limit, of course."
Nevertheless, don't think that the
actor will be slowing down just because he's thinking of tapping out of the action
genre. The actor has the sequel Ted 2 coming out in June, director Martin Scorsese's
Silence in November, and he recently signed on to lead a remake of the prison
escape thriller, The Escapist.
