A couple of new
details, additions, and changes about director Harmony Korine's (Spring Breakers)
next project have come to light. It was previously announced that The Trap was
going to star Benicio Del Toro, and Jamie Foxx in the leading roles, but now it
seems that Foxx is out and Idris Elba has stepped in to replace him as a
gangster rap artist named Rico.
Rico is at the top of
his career when his "best friend" Slim (Del Toro), who took the fall
for him for a bank robbery is released from prison after 14 years. Now on the
outside Slim seeks revenge after not only seeing that Rico has gained all this fortune,
and fame, but also that he has married his ex-girlfriend, and is raising his
son as his own.
Besides revealing that
Elba as replaced Foxx, The Hollywood Reporter also adds that Al Pacino, Robert
Pattinson, and James Franco are in talks to play Slim's parole officer, an
Uzi-wielding surfer, and Rico's cocaine addict manager, respectively.
