Busy with editing on
the small-scale gay rights drama Stonewall, and with prep on the Independence
Day sequel, director Roland Emmerich has decided that the best way to conquer was
to divide, and has set up newcomers Nicolas Wright and James A. Woods to pen
the script for his reboot of his 1994 sci-fi movie Stargate.
According to The
Hollywood Reporter, Wright, and Woods are in final talks to pen the script of
what Emmerich hopes will become the first film in a trilogy, which he is set to
direct.
The duo of newcomer
writers first came into the picture with an action thriller script they penned
and that Emmerich's Centropolis Entertainment banner acquired. They also recently
worked with the director on Independence Day 2. They wrote draft, which is how
the film was greenlit by the studio.
Emmerich co-wrote the
first film with Dean Devlin, and both are now producing.
