After a few years of
development, Kon-Tiki directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim
Rønning are finally in Australia shooting the next entry in the franchise that
gave star Johnny Depp his first Oscar nomination. With production underway in
Queensland, Disney have unveiled the official synopsis for Pirates of the
Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow,
Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Gibbs, Stephen Graham as Scrum,
and new additions to the franchise, Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Kaya
Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, and Golshifteh Farahani.
Pirates of
the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Official Synopsis:
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow
finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost
pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape
from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including
him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the
legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor
total control over the seas.
Pirates of
the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was scheduled to be released on July 7,
2017, but there's no mention of date in the press release so I'm assuming it
remains the same.
