Early in the week news that Star Trek legend Leonard
Nimoy had been hospitalized due to complaints of severe chest pains, left fans
and non-fans hoping for his wellbeing. Sadly, today the actor's medical condition
deteriorated and he passed away leaving behind two children, grandchildren, and
his current wife Susan Nimoy, who confirmed that Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease, which last year the actor confirmed the diagnosis, was the official
cause of death.
Nimoy is best recognized and beloved for the stoic Mr.
Spock in the original Star Trek series and films. More recently, the actor
played Dr. William Bell in the Fringe series, and voiced Sentinel Prime in
Transformers 3.
