8 Actors That Could Play The New Spider-Man

The Spider-Man cinematic universe took a big step forward this week with the announcement that Sony and Marvel would collaborate in rebooting the franchise, however before things develop any further a new Spider-Man must be found since reports claim that Andrew Garfield is out of the franchise. Reports also claim that Sony is looking to cast someone younger then Garfield, who was 28 when he was cast, and that the idea is to take the character back to high school.

So there are some guidelines from which to extrapolate who we think might be consider to take on the role of Peter Parker, or Miles Morales, or Miguel O'Hara, or some other variant from a different reality (Spider-Ham excluded).

Chandler Riggs (15)

The up and coming teen has yet to leave his mark on the big screen, however he has certainly shown what he is capable of in his 49 appearances on AMC's hit show The Walking Dead.

Nick Robinson (19)

On the verge of breaking out as a serious actor, actor Nick Robinson got his first big break in the 2013 indie The Kings of Summer, however the actor will certainly reach new heights of fame in this year's Jurassic World, which could be a stepping-stone into landing the Peter Parker role.

Cameron Monaghan (20)

Despite his young age, Monaghan already boasts an impressive body of work. Among his 44 credits, the actor is probably best known for his work on Shameless, Vampire Academy, The Giver, and what seems to be the Joker on Gotham, which gives him the range, and experience to lead Sony's franchise into new heights.

Freddie Highmore (22)

Highmore is no stranger to big sets, big budgets, and the leading man role. The Bates Motel star has worked on such films like Finding Neverland, he was Charlie in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He played twins Jared and Simon Grace in The Spiderwick Chronicles, and has led the indie The Art of Getting By. This should be perfect for a studio looking to cast someone young and with experience.

Keith Stanfield (23)

If Sony is looking to replace Peter Parker with Miles Morales, then what better actor then Keith Stanfield. The actor made his feature film debut not too long ago in the indie Short Term 12 in 2013. Since then he had roles in The Purge: Anarchy, and Selma, and will next be seen as Snoop Dogg in the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

Logan Lerman (23)

Lerman was already pointed out has a possible replacement, but I would be neglectful if I didn't include him in the list. Following his breakout role in 3:10 to Yuma, Lerman headlined the Percy Jackson franchise, and offered great performances in such movie like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Noah, and Fury. The actor is one of the most well known actors on the list, which for a billion dollar franchise is one of the requirements.

Dylan O'Brien (23)

Though still a newcomer, his work on MTV's Teen Wolf, and the recent leading role in The Maze Runner have put him on the map, and so much so that like Logan Lerman, he too is apparently being eyed to replace Andrew Garfield.

Jack O'Connell (24)

Since starring in Skins, the British actor has been on an uprising or great roles and great performances. From Starred Up, to '71, to the recent Unbroken, O'Connell has shown that he is able to carry a film.
