The Latino Review seems to have attained
more than a couple of scoops regarding writer/director David Ayer's upcoming
Suicide Squad, so be warned spoilers ahead, however don't forget to take that
grain of salt since nothing has been confirmed.
According to them, Harley Quinn (Margot
Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith) will come face to face very early on into the
film, when she tries to free Joker (Jared Leto) out of Arkham, and he tries to
assassinate an inmate that is being transported from Arkham.
"Waller (Viola Davies)
has Joker moved to the prison as a means to keep Quinn in check. He spends most
of the film in a cell, very much like Hannibal Lecter, until he breaks out in
the end."
In the current iteration of
the script Boomerang (Jai Courtney), who already is a part of the Suicide
Squad, hates Deadshot because he killed his father.
The squad's mission in the
film is to prevent the sell of some bio-weapons to Lex Luthor. The bio-weapons
is then reveled to be June or Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), who has a split personality,
with the evil one being the sorceress. The mission is successful and the team report
to Waller's prison with Enchantress, who is kept in an "underground area, which has all sorts of genetic freaks imprisoned
including a King Shark."
"Rick Flag is there as a
watchdog over Waller. The twist is his character is revealed as being in league
with the villain, Rick Flag Snr at the end. (This is what I believe may have
been the reason Hardy left) It is out of left field. They want the weapons that
Waller has amassed."
Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Joker are
the main characters in the film with Flag being more or less your typical
Government Agent until he is revealed to be the villain.
Waller is hunting down all superheroes and
supervillains, and it is mentioned that she is also after Barman, who is seen
in some camera footage.
It seems that the film is being used to set up the
villains of the future franchises, since Belle Reve (Waller's prison) "is home to many of villains beyond the leads. The script ends with a prison
riot where most of them escape, including the Joker. The Joker has a large part
in the movie but doesn't get involved in any action scene until the very end
during the riot where he kills several people."
"The script has been getting much praise in the studio. The rumor is
Tom Hardy left because of the changes to his characters although he is in two
of the main action scenes."
What do you think?
