Among his varied achievements director Christopher
Nolan is credited with the resurgence of the more realistic, and dark style of
superhero movie, which suited his Dark Knight trilogy very well, however director
Matthew Vaughn feels that audiences have had enough of the dark and gritty and favors
a lighter approach to the genre.
"People
want fun and escapism at the moment," the Kingsman: The Secret Service director told SFX. "Look at the success of Guardians of the Galaxy.
I think Nolan kick-started a very dark, bleak style of superhero escapism, and
I think people have had enough of it."
Personally
I think it all depends on the type of story you want to tell, I mean Bryan
Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past was dark and bleak, while James Gunn's
Guardians of the Galaxy was fun and light-hearted, and both did pretty well at
the box-office. At the end of the day if the film is well made who really cares
if one is dark and the other one isn't.
What
do you think?
