For the past few months rumors
and whispers that director Joss Whedon might not return to helm the upcoming
Avengers: Infinity War movies have been heard. We have also heard that Captain
America: The Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and Guardians of
the Galaxy director James Gunn might be up for the task. So far nothing
conclusive has been stated by either of them, until now.
Speaking to Empire Magazine,
Whedon revealed that he doesn't sees himself doing these big movies for much
longer, which isn't a big surprise if you consider not only the amount of time
he does to make them, but also the amount of time it takes to promote it.
"I
couldn't imagine doing this again," he says. "It's
enormously hard, and it be, by then, a good five years since I created anything
that was completely my own. So it's very doubtful that I would take on the
two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I
obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe - I love these guys -
but it ain't easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any
year of my life. It is bonkers."
It's worth mentioning that Whedon
was also skepitcal of returning to direct Age of Ultron, but it seems that the
hours have finally caught up with the director, who now wants to do a different
thing.
What do you think?
