After reporting that Andy Serkis will be playing Ulysses Klaw in director
Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron, Schmoes Know is now revealing the identity
of the mysterious female character that appeared in the latest trailer, and whom
we all assumed would be Black Panther's sister Shuri. According to them, the
character is in fact Mantis.
According to their sources "this would seem to make a lot of sense
as she 1) has direct ties to Thanos, 2) has even stronger ties to Vision,
Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, 3) has a personal vendetta in the comics
against Klaw and, most importantly 4) has been a prominent member of both The
Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy."
In the
comics the alien Priests of Pama, a sect of the Kree, trained Mantis. As an Avenger,
she became close to Vision. When Thanos threatened to destroy the Earth using
the Cosmic Cube, she, the Avengers, Captain Marvel, and Drax joined forces to
take him out.
Her story
is much intricate and has a lot more of depth, but has you can see adding her
to the cinematic universe will link both the earth bound heroes (Avengers) and
those that inhabit space (Guardians).
As always
take it with a grain of salt, but what do you think of this unexpected choice?
