Thought his actual role in the
decision making process of Marvel Cinematic Universe is minimal to say the
least, comic book legend, Stan Lee does have his eyes and hears on what's going
on behind doors.
While attending the Fan Expo Canada
this past Friday, Lee was quizzed about the Black Widow standalone movie.
"We
haven’t made a Black Widow movie but she’s been in some of our movies, and she
will be featured more prominently as we move forward. And the chances are she
will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to
have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and the
Black Panther and there are others I am not allowed to talk about."
Say no more Mr. Lee. It's isn't a
shock to hear that a Black Panther movie is in development, not it's shocking
to hear that Black Widow's role will be more prominent in future movies, but
what about that spin-off? Well one person is lobbying for that to happen. Director
Neil Marshall recently revealed that if he had his pick of superheroes, it
would be Black Widow.
"Yes, I’d love to do a big splashy movie with a
great female lead, but it has to be someone I can believe in. I would love to
do a Black Widow movie. That’s perfect, I would love to do that. That character
is really interesting, she doesn’t have any superpowers, she just has
extraordinary skills, and the world that she comes from, being this ex-K.G.B.
assassin, I find that really fascinating, yeah."
