According to Deadline, Kate
Mara has been offered a role, opposite Matt Damon in the upcoming adaptation of
Andy Weir's e-book, The Martian by Ridley Scott.
The story revolves around an
astronaut who after becoming stranded on the big red planet and must find a way
to survive so he can return to Earth.
Earlier this month it was
reported that Kristen Wiig, and Jessica Chastain were circling the lead role,
but it's unclear if it is the same as the one offered Mara.
According to Scott The Martian
is already storyboarded, and will begin shooting in November in Budapest,
Hungary, and then in Wadi Rum, Jordan for the Mars scenes.
