Box Office Weekend: 19/21 September - YA Film Takes Gold; Liam Neeson Is In The Top 3; More


Director R.J. Cutler's If I Stay featuring Chloe Grace Moretz, Mireille Enos, and Stacy Keach opens this weekend's rundown of the top ten box-office list in tenth. Director Michael Roskam's The Drop starring Tom Gardy, Noomi Rapace, and the late James Gandolfini drop from last week's sixth spot to ninth. Coming up in eighth is the reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In seventh comes the R rated comedy directed by Luke Greenfield and starring Jake Johnson, and Damon Wayans Jr. Let's Be Cops. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy continues its run has the highest grossing superhero movie of the year in sixth, followed by the highest grossing dolphin movie of the year, Dolphin Tale 2 in fifth. Dropping from first to fourth is the Idris Elba, and Taraji P. Henson led thriller No Good Deed.

In third comes the R-rated comedy by Shawn Levy, This Is Where I Leave You, starring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne, Corey Stoll, Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton, Timothy Olyphant, and Dax Shepard.

This Is Where I Leave You tells the story of the dysfunctional Altman family, who come together for the funeral of the patriarch, and end up having to fulfill his last whishes.


In second comes writer-director Scott Frank action film, A Walk Among the Tombstones, starring Liam Neeson as a former NYPD detective, and recovering alcoholic, Matt Scudder, who is forced to track down a killer who is targeting drug criminals.

A Walk Among the Tombstones also stars Ruth Wilson, David Harbour, Dan Stevens, and Boyd Holbrook.



And in first comes Wes Ball's adaptation of author James Dashner young adult novel, The Maze Runner starring Dylan O'Brien, Kayla Scodelario, Will Poulter, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

The film stars Dylan O’Brien as Thomas, a young man that wakes up in an elevator with no memory of who he is or where he’s at, but soon finds out that he has been taken to the center of a maze. There he joins a group of teenagers who have been trying to get away from the forever changing and deadly labyrinth.
