The upcoming
adaptation of B.M. Bendis, and Michael Avon Oeming comic book, Powers is
gaining some serious traction. After recently adding Eddie Izzard, Olesya
Rulin, and Noah Taylor, the Sony PlayStation Network exclusive series has now
added Sharlto Copley (District 9,
Maleficent), and Michelle Forbes (The Killing).
Copley is
set to lead the series as Christian Walker, described as "charismatic" and having once, "possessed super powers, but lost them in a battle with a
super-human mass killer. He now uses his singular expertise to investigate
crimes in the Powers community."
While Michelle Forbes (The Killing) "is
the undisputed super star of the Powers community. An icon of justice,
selflessness, and business acumen, her willingness to put herself at risk for
the good of others is matched only by her ability to manage her globe-spanning
personal brand."
30 Days of Night, Hannibal and
Breaking Bad director David Slade has been tapped to helm the first two
episodes of the upcoming series, which will be available exclusively on the
PlayStation Network media section, and is set to premiere in December.
When one of the key members of
a popular super group is found violently murdered, the events that follow
unveil the federal governments multi layered control of the superhero elite and
how far they will go to cover up. Walker and Pilgrim are forced to make choices
that will forever change their lives and careers...and how the world at large
will see their heroes.
Powers stars Eddie Izzard,
Olesya Rulin, Noah Taylor, Susan Heyward, Max Fowler, Adam Godley, Sharlto
Copley, and Michelle Forbes.
